Cookies and local storage
We set analytics cookies only if you accept them. Two small settings are remembered on your device.
The short version
Google Analytics cookies are set only if you accept them in the notice on your first visit. If you reject them or ignore the notice, the analytics script does not load and no cookie is placed in your browser. The site works exactly the same either way.
There are no advertising or social media cookies and no tracking pixels.
Apart from that, we only store your choice of time display, if you change it, and your answer to the notice.
Cookies if you accept analytics
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Kept for |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Google Analytics | A random ID that lets us count returning visitors without knowing who they are. | 2 years, or until you reject analytics |
_ga_<ID> | Google Analytics | Keeps track of the current visit. | 2 years, or until you reject analytics |
Google signals and ad personalisation are turned off. Our privacy policy explains what Google receives. You can change your answer at any time in the settings below; rejecting removes these cookies straight away.
What we store on your device
| Name | Type | Purpose | Kept for |
|---|---|---|---|
ta-tz | Local storage | Remembers whether kickoff times are shown in your local time or in UTC. It never leaves your device. | Until you clear it |
ta-consent | Local storage | Remembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics, so we do not ask on every page. It never leaves your device. | 12 months, then we ask again |
Local storage works like a cookie but is not sent to our server with each request. Because these entries only remember choices you made, they do not need consent under UK and EU rules.

Cookies we don’t use
- Advertising and affiliate tracking: none. We have no ads and no bookmaker or affiliate links.
- Social media: no embedded share buttons or feeds that set their own cookies.
Cookies for site staff
People who run the site sign in to its admin area. WordPress sets sign-in cookies for them only (names starting with wordpress_). Readers never see the sign-in page and never receive these cookies.
If this changes
If we add another cookie that is not strictly necessary, we will ask for your consent first with a clear choice to refuse, list the cookie on this page and update the date at the top.
Controlling storage in your browser
You can clear cookies and site data for any website in your browser’s privacy settings, or block them altogether. Touchline Atlas works fully with storage blocked; the time display simply goes back to your local time on each visit, the notice is not shown and analytics stays off.
